Simple: 'Okay. Let's get the resignation notice for you to complete.'

I don't play that game. And for some people, they really like that threat as a game. Generally, it's people who have gotten in trouble for attendance in my experience. So it's an intimidation tactic and really means 'If you don't stop correcting my behavior I'm going to quit!'

Calling the bluff immediately stops it.


I like to say I don't play hostage negotiator. If they're threatening to quit, especially multiple times, it's usually a matter of ok, we'll accept that as your resignation (but gotta consider everything, obviously context of each situation matters).
